I have made it!

The appetite for better results after e trauma from sem1 is encouraging. Upon learning that I do well in modules I like, I chose all 5 moduled that a like and bingo it. I got what I expected.

More lessons learn from e improvement. First, textbook are important. Second, use e textbook to e max by practising questions n hving e answers. Third, do not rule out anything especially nearing e exam. Also, weekends in campus, dun play games on andriod, no disruption, midterm is so impt. I would say that e direction in choosing what I like and e lecturer are critical. Antchin killed many people, so pls dun take his module.

So e journey would pause till August and now enjoy but retaining knowledge!

Ending May soon

My kness are interestingly still not the usual condition. wondering whether is the long walks.

Family ties are strengthened this week, with Ryan coming over. However, the lappy remained unseen till today (like now). Anyway going out very soon so should not be a problem.

Went out with ny bizclub peeps. 1st time for this vacation. Sy jq james joesph lh and me. Sy last minute change to somerset instead of city hall which I went to MS n suntec beforehand. Decided on marche and went to orchard central and scape. Spotted purple mirco usb cable at $3, but not willing to buy. E new power bank I bought from qoo10 (new name for gmarket), that comes with several cables, 3pin usb plug topup n pen for touchscreen devices (came as a surprise). Jq learn k-pop moves but failed to exhibit skills. Left for somerset mrt after nth to do at cineleisure. Maybe continue pool again???

exam results are releasing tmr… hope is 3.7 or more, so that overall is 3.5. :) dun think can sleep tonight

Streetsmartness

There were several occasions that my intelligence has not been used appropriately. I went to NTUC Fairprice at NEX on Saturday. I saw the price tag “Coconuts 3.30 for 3″. I mistook for the young coconuts, which I tried that before. I brought 3 to the check-out counters. I went to the self checkout and realised that there is no discount. I went back to check personally, without any staff. I have to say that the person stationed at the self checkout did not initiate to assist me. She simply put, can ask for refund at the customer service. =(. Being overconfident that the promotional product is the one I took, I bought them. Then, later found out I am wrong. It is not the 1st time, but I still walked away with my purchases happily. Was upset abt not carefully reading the labels. The fresh food dept are also at fault in not placing the price tag correctly as the tag fails to slot in at the right product. Also, the name was misleading too. Gonna feedback and CC to SKP.

Cold Wear “tricked” me! was too enthu to but the travel adapter there. It was so much expensive than Challenger or Fairprice Xtra. Exchanged for other stuff which my mum did. Is my fault to be in hesitant to buy. I should have do my homework by popping by other places. =.=

Job hunting for temp positions is tough. The tight time, the chui resume, the tough competition and the lack of good jobs for me. Shall try harder!

Thanks Ben to recommend Modern Family (Season 2 then 3) which is very funny and entertaining to watch. Also watching Make It or Break It Season 3. Ch U’s《检察官公主》Princess Prosecutor is getting exciting. Also Ch U’s  《跳浪!》Jump! is a very light and fun show. Love Jeanette Aw in the show. Watched The Avengers on Monday. It was action-packed. The plot was good, as it is n

无数的第一次

My first trip to kuala lumpur and second time to genting has been fun with my economics peeps. There were many funny, memorable, lame and scary moments. Stirring shit championed by “guning” and “ah hong”, quiet times at meal times, super high n excited times playing cards in e nite.

The journey from golden mile complex to second link was pretty smooth. We have to change bus on second link and the engine was faulted. Waited for around half am hour after the driver n other drivers there helped to find n rectify. It was abt 12.20am we left second link. 1 particular auntie aka gambler was complaining abt the delay. 99% chance that is won’t be expected but we experienced :-( . Stop over at Yong peng where some had bruger or bread.

We reached genting highlands resort abt 0550. took a queue number for e room. It was 5011. As rooms would be allocated after 9am, we went to walk ard and had breakfast at old town coffee cafe. I had western platter that is subnormal. Kfc breakfast on wed is better, where I ordered blueberry pancake platter. The service was so much slower than sg for e same breakfast timing. One always did not provide fork n spoon. So Juliana n chris have to ask for it. They dun provide knife to spread e margarine. :/

E outdoor theme park in genting was exhilarating. There is some queues at skyrocket 1st trial n e dino land. Took many photos e ls there. There were south asians tourists where we shoot they are guning’s friends. Haha as always. As we did not had a proper rest in e bus, we went back to room to rest after euro express in e indoor theme park. We went back for euro express, bumper car n flying dragon x2. E more thrill rides r skyrocket n. Did not try go kart as penny was below height limit so played others. RM 66 unlimited indoor n outdoor rides is worthwhile.

Dinner was early at 5. Went over tl mushroom farm for a chinese tze char. Ordered 8 dishes costing RM 200. More worthy than kl as below.

Left for genting for kl on wed. Checked in to hotel capitol that we have all of us on e same level. Unlike genting, we had level 3,4,5 and 8. The weather was killing as we walked to chinatown (bukit pinang). Nth much there besides e soya beancurd (N&B standard. soya bean milk is not bad too), multi flavor muah chee. Lunch was at a restaurant. Ordered 5 dishes costs RM122. E barley drink unlike e lower class coffeshop tze char stalls at bukit bintang, is boiled with gingko nuts and not those processed type. Took LRT from central market (nth to buy n see) to KLCC. Went to suria to shop. Bought 1 t shirt at quik silver. Hr bought 1 so that is 89.9+17 second pc. Also bought billabong thongs (slippers) at 49.9×0.7.

After that we took a taxi to berjaya times square. Had dinner at papa john pizza. E waiter kindof acting they do not know how to speak english. Same as at marrybrown at subway lagoon. Went to e arcade which is cheaper as 2 tokens for rm1. Did fish spa for 15mins that we made lot kg noises. 1st time for everyone that was smoothing e foot skin. The fishes crowded at “guning” ankles most of e time…

Sunway lagoon day on thurs. We got a van that fetch us from genting to kl at RM 80. It was not crowded so it is unnecessary to queue. Costs RM 80 for wildlife (40mins to see all), dry and wet theme parks. It is very chillax as there was ample time to stay in e water and kana taken photos. After e gates were opened, we went to see e wildlife. Chris has a strong phobia for birds and linked to other jokes abt angry birds… there was an instance that gn was shocked by e knocks of e animal on e glass!!! it was so loud and she (as usual) screamed. There are a few varieties of rides in the water and dry theme parks, so it can be finished quickly. Lunch at Marrybrown… i think the servers assumed us to be able to understand Malay but speak English??? thus they speak Malay… we competed against each other in the slides. There is 1 that can accommodate up to 4 persons. Most are 2 or 1 person. It was raining at Sunway Lagoon when we decided to end the rides. The photo booth was another extortion. The hardcopies were more expensive, so got a price for softcopies. There is another guy that kaypoh adn charged the whole series of 33 photos at RM175. We selected abt 20 and charged RM130… bought ALL the softcopy as he showed face as actually we are not supposed to choose e pictures. Each person pays ard $8.90. Considering the relatively low admission fee, in SGD is reasonable. Those at genting are RM30 hardcopy each. The taxi ride from Sunway Lagoon to hotel was horrifying for the Chris GN Ben SH group, as the driver cut lanes swiftly and disobey all rules. They think it might be their last ride. The only things the driver did not do is drifting and skidding. He played loud MJ music brusting their ears while following e beat. They reached b4 us, where our ride was peaceful. I was suspicious of the route, a it cuts through 2 carparks (so cumbersome) to get to the highway towards KL. The toll they use was cash, and they are able to cut the queue that was indeed commendable. After shower, went back to Berjaya Times Square. Bought 3 phone covers at RM30, the other 3 guys did massage and girls walk ard. Quite bankrupt already at that time. Popped over to Krispy Kreme to buy the minis to share at RM15+5% and tried the honey glazed doughnut at RM2.95. Taste similar to the Popdoh at Taka that is closed down. Used wifi at starbucks and headed back to hotel.

The nite was awesome. Played e asking cards game (honest and dishonest), silent library and Indian poker (with entertainment from the losers to perform the Gu Ning cheer). Also side track to ENS camp discussions. It became a Pre Pre camp. Full of laughter and jokes. Also had a birthday cake for Penny and Juliana. although is kindof late, at least is not in Sg. Penny likes the strawberry and kiwi which the cakes has. Haha! Good! Slept soundly after 2.30am despite the humid weather and the faulty aircon.
Then last day was breakfast, 30mins at Pavilion and at Sungei Wang. Had lunch back at the coffeeshops we had dinner the prev day. Choose a different one this time. The food was lousier there. Personally think there is some co-operation there is a sense that some cook dishes for other shops, so the food was slower. The better food items at a particular one was Fish Beehoon and Vegetarian Fried rice. More budget to eat there. One-dish meals costs ard RM6. Eg are wanton mee, hor fun.
Overall was a very interesting event to know more abt my other 7 friends, whom I know officially since ENS camp. Photos would be shown in tis year’s camp to promote. Somehow the previous batch also have some elements like this.

Eve of last papers

Went back again to campus to study st1131 and dsc2006 for Monday. Went central library n had lunch at e deck which was opened n drank ya kind teh. I think e 4th cup this week. Adding Starbucks n just acia dinner coffee drinks for dinner last night at medical, I am running on caffine. Best is still can sleep as usual. Haha

What I did for thu to sat: do e problems in e reference text for om, prepare summary n crip sheet, practice textbook problems for stats, went thru old tutorial mistakes and reading notes. Make sure I dun lose any concept.

Ec2101 was as horrendous as e lecture so no hopes abt that. Think B B-. ec2102 lost 11marks in Pe n money demand. So B. Then changing landscapes was not enough time for e content. Although spotted power relations, creative solutions and elderly challenges, e time for e last qn on elderly is not fully done… so hopefully B+. seems there is a gap for my target to have 3.5 overall, but tmr have great chances to sprint as I have more time like others anyway. 2 mostly quantitative papers.

Good friday holiday

After completing e syllabus for cls on tues, ec2102 on wed and ec2101 myself with pindyck n rubinfield, I am completing e last tutorial for week 13, i.e. study week 1. Stats left a few parts n biz 1 small topic.

Work wise i am doing om today and stat tut tmr. Then upload. Revision wise? Ongoing…

One more month to holidays

E other way to interpret that holidays are coming is that exams have to be conquered beforehand. It is 先苦后甜。I will reap what I sow now.

Now is all abt studies! All modules are completing except ec2101 which has e slowest lecturer with many stars stars. Now only until bertand model in ch 12 and still have e rest of ch 12, 13,14 and 18. Already self declare to self study e text book and answers. Also e tutor gg overseas so e prof would take over… Oh well, he is so long winded and time wasting.

On a happier note, went to kallang waterfront for e first time to eat at jumbo to celebrate my bro in law bonus. Sister had treated swensens on Friday. As I bought train concession (like finally), I already travelled quite a lot besides usual days to campus as I went to study at biz and central lib on Saturday and medical lib on Sunday. Bought a levi’s short sleeve shirt from metro sales on Saturday that is $99 x 0.8 x 0.9. Also went to abercrombie and fitch shop that is essentially a nightclub theme US brand clothing. E loud music will be well liked by the clobbers and younger generations. Anyway, it is so much cheaper in US.

Supply chain game

In this post, I will talk abt e supply chain game I played just now. Blogging in e train after taking bus to hpv.

It is abt ordering n meeting e demand at each process, from e factory, distributor, wholesaler to the retailer. I played e role of e retailer, which can know e actual demand by e customers. Predicting e expected demand and ordering results in increasing inventory or backlog at e end of a week. It stimulate scm in real world as demand is unexpected and delay in information dissemination makes it difficult to know e actual demand to satisfy all e customers. Total cost for our grp is pretty high as e demand surge that e inventory cannot be met. I conclude that uncertainty leads to extra costs, that is inefficient in e economic perspective.

Closer and closer

Week 9 is as busy as usual. Went to CQ last Sunday as it is my project field site with my grp mates. Gathered interesting insights there. Finally the draft is out yesterday and getting it printed and DONE!

Stats, my only level 1 module, is getting tough and confusing as there are many things to know… Hopefully tutorials will clear my doubts. Anthony Chin came out with a stunt for giving a thick reading, which I dun really pay attention as my tutor is Ding Rong. He extended the deadline for the assgn to Monday 9am, but I submitted on Friday evening as I won’t be in campus so early… anyway is 4%. Thursday was my free day, so went singing with HH at Hougang Plaza KBox as the Kala Card promo ends this month. The rest are quite manageable.

Went for NUS arts festival concert, Solo Duet, by T.H.E. Dance company. The three items are from Indonesia, Singapore and Japan, depicting the facets of city urban life n tensions that comes with. E second one is more accessible
to general public as there is a conversation, while e two have to rely more on personal interpretation n appreciation of their body language. As it is a formal arts event, it is supposed to be having deep thinking. It’s a new experience with my mum. But rather go for symphonic orchestra.
