NATAS Fair@ Expo

my first ever visit to Singapore Expo was yesterday for the NATAS Fair. There was a wholesome spread of tour agencies, tourism boards, credit card promo booths, free experiences by individual countries and also travel insurance.

Paid the admission that is $7 a pair for Mastercard holder. I used my card. Then went to see the luggage bags for ANZ, Citibank, OCBC and HSBC. The ANZ 28″ one in the brochure was the black diamond design which ran out of stock, so used the 2nd alternative for the Citibank. Went to Chan Brothers but the package was expensive as it was Premier and somemore have to take coach transfer. My sister wanted a seamless one so that can fly direct from Singapore to Haneda and then to New Chitose. We asked the May dates. Then proceeded to ASA which has a better itinerary. The May dates was more expensive by $400 a pax than June and that May does not have flora to see. So (phew!) saved a large sum there. So will be flying in mid June. =)

Recess week ending so soon!

Went back to campus for project meeting and it was a productive one, with ideas streaming as fast as Fibre Optic Connection and structuring our paper. Going for e site soon and take photos to flaut the examiners who I know pretty well for GE1101E. Simply love geography… Was talkinh to Gao Ning abt this today and said my 1st love was Human Geography (since Sec 1) and relatively recent favourite is Economics (JC1). I have the capability and ability to do Accountancy but needs a lot of talking. I dun wnat to do Geog major as it require GIS and also Physical Geog. So Econs! Econs comprises of Urban Studies (Geog/Real Estate-related), Math/Stats, Biz. Plentiful modules I can take so 7UE, 2 Breadth is easy to choose. As I have said, taking these modules, 2 EC, 1 SSA(GE), 1 DSC and 1 ST module is a great balance compared to LSM and HY module. Studied at HR’s place after some singing and at least not so lagging behind. Shall work smarter!

2nd day of recess

Today was a productive day. Went to study and chat with CJ at Raffles Hall in the morning, then went to eat at Technoedge Vegetarian Stall (one of e best besides the jap food and fishball noodles). Then consulted e micro tutor and macro prof later. Learn that the ant teach the part of behavioural econs that is quite ambitious for us Year 1s as that is only taught in level 4 as a module itself. He also wants (but not feasible) to finish the textbook of Pinydck and Rubinfield in 13 weeks. Just hope the mid terms dun get killed… its my last midterm so have more time to prepare on Thursday. Prof Wong commented CJ which I think he is spoiling mkt… I know he is within e 3rd s.d. to the right of the cohort and I 2nd s.d. to the right should be good enough!!! better more on the right la, more A’s A-’s B+’s. He also said abt doing tutorials ahead which is common sensical. Bleh.

Monday was studying at home which I did like 70% of the chapter numerical and analytical problems. Now left mirco textbk qn for pdt costs, macro notes revision, OM revision and project. The rest are more or less completed. What I worry is that I forget what I read or studied, so have a healthy lifestyle at least till next Friday then the cycle of lecture-tutorial restart again! Anyway, 30% for OM, macro and micro, 13% for CLS midterms have to KILL ALL!!!

Watched Ghost Rider: The Spirit of Vengeance at Shaw premiere at nex on Monday as it is $10 for non-peak. Quite worth fo e reclining seat sometimes. Rating: 6.5/10

Also We Not Naughty 《孩子不坏》last Thursday with HH. Quite touching esp. on the cutting hair. It’s smart to have a family and deploy 3 different stages of the children and plus gambling. The cast are quite different with Taiwanese star, Daniel Chen, as the lecturer. The budget have to be high… School bullying, loan shark and gambling themes are sterotypical of his movies. Rating: 8/10.

This semester is optimistic so far…

6 weeks of Semester 2 have passed on a very postive note. I am happy for myself in not staying up as late as 12-1am on weeknights and I do not have numerous essays and assignments to do. My only project on SSA2202 has started off well, bit progressing slowly. Its due in exactly 1 month so have ot get the things right fast. The 2 gals and 2 other guys (my friends) had 2 discussions but still dunno when to meet this week as I am planning to schedule my time with family and to study with friends. Mid term preparation are ongoing fairly well.

In order to watch Budget 2012 yesterday live on Channelnewsasia on TV at home, I ponned ST1131 for the third friday and went for 25mins of ant’s slow and boring lect. Just hope I dun fall into his trap during the 1 h 15 min 30 MCQ test. As my OM webcasts are only shown at the end of the sem, I went for the earlier slot at 11-1pm which is most crowded by the dominant year 1 bba students. The atmosphere is quite different with more locals and more noisy. This, to me, is an “alternative landscape” for the students at the same place, same lecturer but different time. Similar to Little India, Sunday nights are packed with migrant workers while the other times are not so domineering. so left campus at 2pm taking to KR w/ Junli, and watched DPM/Finance/Manpower Tharman. Fiscal policy targeted those who need more help esp. the lower-income, disabled and elderly. Learnt abt elderly landscapes on Tues and it re-appeared on Fri and during the CAC concert where e NUSS Choir has several elders singing.

Saturday morning was a Field Trip to Little India Serangoon Rd, as part of the CLS module. My fav lecturer was the guide with Ms Kamal. Chatted with him and he encouraged me to take Minor in Urban Studies which I intend to start next sem. if can then yahhh. Also e career talk on Wednesday for Social Science majors.

Went for Juliana’s Cultural and Arts Club (CAC) concert with Han Rong, Grace and Penny. Bought a bear at Vivo and headed to UCC. Seated at the isle cos we got late but the girls got a centre back 2nd level seats. its free seating so FCFS works here (#dsc2006). It was under Jazzitude and the name is Divas on the Runway.

Mid week of e ‘mid’ sem

It’s Wednesday today and is e total defence day for sg. It is a significant day where sg was taken down by the Japanese during ww2. This day reminds citizens the vulnerability of relying others for defence which usually end up a failure.

I have to prepare for 4 mid terms. Micro, macro n om are mcq and for cls is 1 essay on environmental management. So have to practice essay. Also have to do e project n contest to increase ca. It’s a easier sem as I dun have to many to handle.

One more week to recess!

So far so good? Compared to last sem I was busily doing calculus assignments where it took up a lot of time. also have to do ES essay. This semester was =). Currently have to keep up with readingsm textbook and tutorials.Guess the new concepts like indifference curve and IS curve have been bugging me and I try to understand fully. I really hate Anthony where he brought him too many egs in his lecture, although relevant but excessive! He should go through the more important stuff like Larangian, where MU then dI/dY = … max = 0 all these. There is also Larangian in Pdt Costs so it is definite priortity to learn. Macro was okay… but he skipped Y=AE for IS and went on to Asset Mkt. Anyway it’s just whether r or Y change then is mvt along IS curve else is shift up where Y remains the same.

Micro tutorial was late by 7mins and she already went through the 4th qn of the tutorial (aC’s qn). It was merely regurgitation from his notes abt having different IC for different style/space (quality compared). She speaks better than the stats tutor. Melon, of course, is legendary as she provided e step-by-step approach. OM tutor was understandable and explanation were quite clear, which works well for me. So my lessons are like that:

Loved my “extended” weekend till Tuesday and 2 long days a week is better than last sem with lesser hours (less 6h a week).

Ended watching City Hunter on Sat and now Pretty Little Liars Season 2 Ep16 onwards that started airing in US in Jan. Not engrossed but there is demand for leisure.

Planning ahead, recess week besides preparing for 4 midterms of which 3 are MCQ papers :-\, I have a concert, bday party and ktv? Better study 1st. I want 3.8 this sem to give a 3.5.

元宵节

今天是正月十五，东方人的情人节。woke up quite early after e body clock screwed a bit as had a nap at 8pm till 10+pm and could not sleep. Instead I tinkled my s2 till 1.30am… haiz. Watched e last episode of e ch 8 drama which I missed due to steamboat ens dinner. Also watched the noose. Then 晴天霹雳！realised I did not upload stats hw! 3% gone! So wasted! I should have uploaded on Wednesday when I lend laptop to hr or other day before today…  hope they dun check e time. Just had om tutorial that ended late and a1 is pretty empty. That’s e good thing about having 2 tutorials on Monday.
